Dr H.
So we are not to see you till
the 1st proximo, we regret it, since your
stay must necessarily be curtailed by de-
ferring it so long. But come, we shall
all be glad to see you. You will meet
a set of warm hearts, glowing with
kind feeling toward yourself & buoyant
with hope in regard to the wisdom
with which you will manage to keep
Whigs in the ascendant. Your best
judgment will be required & an ample
support from the friends of the country
to sustain the position the party occupies:
but for myself, I do fear not the result.
Since my last I have remitted
to Mr Duer
Name: John Duer
Birth: 1782-10-07
Death: 1858-08-08
$2495.78 & have in
hand, a larger amount in readiness to
send to the Bank[ . ]
Reason:
Pray bring with you the volume
of Mortgages you have from here.
The Lord bless you[ . ]
Reason:
Yours &c
