Edward Plantagenet was King of England from March 4, 1461 to October 3, 1470, when he was desposed. He was restored to king from April 1471 to April 1483. He was also King of France, Earl of March, Earl of Cambridge, Earl of Ulster, and the fourth Duke of York. Edward still claimed a title to France, invading Lorraine in 1475. In 1478 he paid off the debt that the Lancastrian monarchy had built up, and put his brother Sir George, Duke of Clarence, to death.

Biography: Edward married Richard Woodville's daughter Elizabeth Woodville in 1464. Elizabeth and Richard had two children, Edward V and Richard of York, and five daughters. Before his marriage to Elizabeth, Edward was said to have been contracted to Lady Eleanor Butler. Richard III argued that this made his children by Elizabeth Woodville illegitimate.
