Windsor Sept. 7 1815
My Dear Grandmother
I was happy to receive your kind
letter, for you write so seldom that I thought you
would not write to me. I should be delighted to see you at
Windsor and expected you before this, however, I am glad
to hear you are all in good health, and hope I shall
have the pleasure of seeing you so, at the end of this
year, although, I am by no means discontented. It is now
a very unpleasant season, which I suppose makes me
think more of home, though we have many amusements
out of school; a swing, at the bower, which serves for
exercise; and large gardens through which we run. Is
there now a school in the Academy at Auburn? I sh ^o^ uld
be sorry to have my little friends excel me, when I have cost

and I regret it is so late in the season, as the flowers
are all decaying, and we cannot examine their different parts
as well as if they were in full bloom. I was sorry to hear
