Your favour of the 12^th
Inst. has been received from which I learn
that you have suffered much anxiety
for want of more frequent and earnest
information as to the state and progress
of my indisposition while from home
and rather accuse the family in want of
attention in writing. But one moments
reflection will dissipate this charge.
During my illness I was situated some
distance from the stage road, where even
my friends in Florida had but very in-
correct accounts from me. My sickness
was such as to give me no opportunity
to reflect on my own situation aside
from writing to my friends. And I
wrote as soon as able to hold the pen.
Ma & Charles were my constant nurses
which left her no time. Washington sur-
rounded with caers & anxieties forgot he
had a distant friend to write to.
You said in a former letter that you
intended to bring our dear daughter and
children to stay with us during the Court.
This we have so far calculated on that we feel
we cannot be disappointed, and therefore
must request you not to fail bringing
them with you at that time.
I am pleased to hear that you have
sold your house and lot in Auburn
believing it will soon be necessary for
you to remove to this county.

I was much surprised when I found you had
purchased real estate in Auburn knowing
it is frequently difficult disposing of it
when one wishes to.
The Judges answer to the road com-
plaint went on in May Term to the supreme
Court Mr Van Duzer has a copy of the
whole and has promised me firmly
that he will consult you immediately
I wish you to write to him for the papers
and state your opinion on the case —
whether any Amendments to the returns are
necessary, and generally what is necessary
and proper in the case.
We had a contested road case at
our Cases Pleas last term - which terminated
a clear as the sun in favour of the appli-
cants for the road, and I only regret now
that we had not immediately taken
ours into the higher court.
Has J. progressed any in his St. Louis
business - I have never had a word
from him on that subject since he
left. I really hope he will not loase sight
of so important an object.
The principles and views of AntiMa-
sonry are openly and frankly supported
in all parts of Orange County. The 2^nd
No of our paper is out - it is eagerly sought
for - as poor Chever said last year of A. M.
Masonry is dead. We hear not a lisp from
them. Their preses are silent as death.

Only that the grand lodge is about to
give up their charter dissolve and
recommend it to all the other lodges in the
state to follow the example. This I sincerely
hope they will not do. I would rather
fight two open ennemies than one
secret one. But since Bushes address
and Mrs Eaton's blow out they are quite
chap fallen. Only hear and there a
lark crying persicution. W We have had
the Rev - Mr Mauss up from Black River
he spent three days with us. They are
establishing a paper at Hackets Town
Sussex C^o. He is perfectly inthusiastic.
New Jersey will be heard from in the
National convention in terms that
will cause Masons to Tremble.
I have been quite indisposed a
few days back but am now better.
