My dear W^m Henry
Your kind and anxiously looked
for letter of the 11^th Inst. has this moment
(9 oclock PM) come to hand. We have
now two mails a week which will
make a correspondence more inter=
esting. That Francis and the Children
are in usual health. Your business going
on cheerfully and successfully to a speedy
Close, and that you are mindfull of
the unpleasant situation in which your
brother is plased are all matters of the great-
est consolation to us. That your brothers
and sister (has Candfield been at your
place) should neglect writing seems strange
I wrote you a long letter by TA Cummin who set out on his Journey
for the far west this Morning.
I believe I mentioned to you the smarting
settlement commensed with Ackerson
it is daily growing more angry &
I know not when it will end.
Through a brother of Akers Wife I was
promised my rent should be [ pun- tually ] paid first of Dec. I now find
that this Hycett was constantly remov-
ing the fall produce beef Cattle Hogs &c
[ of ] to market. When the rent was due
nothing could be paid. An Execution
was levied on his property. I gave notice
of first paying Rent. But rather than
sell the family out the mow of Hay
was set up I [ bot ] it at the am^t of the
Exec^d the plff refused to sell further
I levied a landlords Warrant

by this time Debts to the amount of two
hundred Dollars were sworn to &
Attachment issued Monell who I had
employed got their set aside. Sold
the goods under Warrant which amounts
to 2/3 the rent. He then levied on the
rent of the property of Acker. Took from
him a Surrender of the farm and
orders me to drive my 4 Cows out of
12 & a yoak of Oxen put on the plow
home. I did so. The Smiths got a
Judgemen and Exe^c and levied on my
4 Cows. Ackers people ran away
with two of their Cows. Smiths Exec^t
pursued and [ brot ] them back. My
Bailiff pursued him and took them
by his Levy. The Collector came and
took one of them off for Taxes.
There are two personal Mortgages
filed in the office to to am^t $230.
The sales came on againe on Saturday
and Monday next and when this
business will end I know not
I have given over the Whole Charge of
it to Monel, and left it to him to
conduct.
Mrs. Cummins has opened
a female Class. Mary is one of her
pupills. I think it is calculated to
improve the young ladies in Florida.
I have this day verbally bargined
away the Snook lot farm say one
hundred and Ten Acres for fifty five
Dollars per Acre $6050 to a very
Correct man and I think the bargin
will be consummated.

Should I live till June I shall make
another effort to go West and if
Lands can be bought or money vested
to advantage of the family in your
Country something of this kind might
be done. February you are I
presume to be at Aubur. If we [ coud ]
get there how happy I should be.
EP is perfect correct and strict in
his deportment. How Happy.
It is almost 11 OClock Mr Cummin
has spent the evening with us

N.B. In yours of Nov 11^th Inst you say you
[ h ] ave deposited one hundred & fifty [ doll- ]
ars in the Bank of Auburn to
your Check you gave me.
I recollect your asking & receiving
from me one hundred & fifty Dollars
for which you gave me your C[ heck ]
(as I supposed) on the Bank of Newb[ urgh. ]
At any rate I presented the Check and
drew the money for it. My impression
at the time was that you had funds in the
Bank. Might not be there at bank hours
would take the money of me & give your
Check which I could present in the
regular [ cours ] of business.
Mama has received a letter from G
he expresses great anxiety as to h
will fund. I expect the poor fellow
is drove almost to dispaire by those
bloodsuckers but it may be best for him

The cold today is intense soon we
Steel and an appearance of a great
Snow Storm. The wind & high water
has done much damage on and
about the Docks at Newburgh and
New Windsor.
Cannot you write a small book and pub-
lish it on the distribution of the surplus
revenue. The people wants lights. They
want waking up. But why should I trouble
myself about this with one foot in the Grave
To think to that V B is Elected President by
a less number of Votes than you Recd

tifying, where were the Whigs if
had done their duty a Harison
Granger must have been elected
Hoffman is in Congress. Clay it is
said will assist another Tour if our pow-
erfull men continue firm The office holders
must go down. They are now [ tremblins ]
