My dear W. Henry
It is a long time since we have been favoured
with a letter from you, during which period many highly
important pubic events have taken place. The Elections with
very few exceptions have terminated glouriously for the people[ . ]
Reason:
The County of Orange
Name: Orange County City:
County:
State: NY
Country: US
as you will have seen has done well
We have Seven Whig[ , ]
Reason: 6 Locos & one conservative Supervisors
In the Town of Warwick
Name: City: Warwick
County: Orange County
State: NY
Country: US
there never was as much fraud
and rascallity practised. The Locos were Organized to a man
with a numerous surplus of Minors & Imigrants from
New Jersey
Name: New Jersey City:
County:
State: NJ
Country: US
they were so positive that they prepaired
their Gun Catriages & Garrisons for rejoicing before hand
but we beat them by a Majority of about thirty[ . ]
Reason:
The sub-Treasury bills in the house is laid on the Table
God grant that it may never get further.
In our Legislations the small bill Law has done much
good. The able reports that have been made in the
Assembly on our fiscal Comisons and internal im-
provements have expanded the views of the people.
Although the N.Y & Erie RR passed the house by so large a
majority still it is doubted by some whether it will
pass the Senate. Is there nothing can be done to
expediate its passage. It is thought the general
Banking law will be of use to the Country.
The patriotic course taken by our house
of Assembly has placed them on a high stand
in Old Orange. The Charter Election in New York
Name: City: New York
County:
State: NY
Country: US
is said to have terminated triumphantly.
We have not had the returns but don't doubt success[ . ]
Reason:
Page 2
In the subject most deeply interesting to me little
is transpiring at present but from what is Afloat it
seems to be most favourable both from East & West[ . ]
Reason:
I am frequently struck with the unprompted
knowledge and firmness with which
Western & Travellors speak of
the Circumstances. Mr Clay

respects this state those too interests are very much
United. Mr Websters

friends I think are by no
means sanguine. Although his last speach is
Universally spoken of as his greatest effort[ . ]

Will you have the goodness to inform me

with these such men I think there will be no
chance on an appeal and therefore hope you will
obtain an Injunction. Did not politics interfear
I should think we had some prospects. We have
been clearing making bridges & improving at our
own expense and made it look like another place.
Shall I expect you here at the meeting of the
Judges in June. Write me on receipt of this and
let me know your views of the subject. How
