your administration, and above all his ability to discharge the duties of this or
any other office are considerations ^which^ I know have great weight with you. He has

or in consenting to receive it, that those which flow from a pure and hon-
orable mind influenced by a thorough desire to do the state the utmost service
It does seem to me there is enough of intelligence and public virtue in this
State to commend the selection of its ablest and best citizens to offices and
how could those influenced by these motions fail to approve of his appointment
