The directors of the Auburn & Rochester RR Co
had a meeting in this place today, and took into consideration
your proposition to sell the corner lot opposite the Prison in Au- burn

at much less. The conclusion arrived at was to offer you
$3,000, and I am requested by Mr Gibson

sum for the lot
Mr Gibson also wishes me to say that in his
opinion the sum offerred is above the real value, and to
assure you that the directors entertain the opinion that
they propose to give a liberal and fair price, of this you
will not I trust entertain a doubt. Mr Sherwoods opinion
had an influence with the board, and if gentlemen of
good judgment in Auburn should fix a higher price than
that offerrded the compy might possibly change their views
For myself I am persuaded the directors intend to be liberal
and if they have not offerred what the lot is intrinsically
worth it arises from erroneous views: for my own part

If you accept the proposition the company will send
you a draft on New York
