My dear Fred
I have sold all
the Burton farm to John Farmer
Name: John Farmer
Birth: 1804-06-23
Death: 1895-02-14
with the exception
of a lot on the south side the same size of Mrs Tubmans
Name: Harriet Tubman
Birth: 1820
Death: 1913-03-10
. The part sold to Farmer is about 25 acres
and he is to have a deed, pay $500 down & give a Bond &
Mtg for $2000 payable in four equal annual installments
of $500 each with interest. I will send the papers to
you in a few days.
Tell father
Name: William Seward
Birth: 1801-05-16
Death: 1872-10-10
that I have found a place where we
can get lumber cheaper than I supposed it could be
had anywhere, this will enable us to make a contract
for ten houses at $475 each if father wishes it. The
demand for houses is not as great as it was however,
I supposet that they could [ be ]
Reason: sold or rented in time but
I think so many houses at one time will be likely to
drag for a time at least.
You say that father is willing I should take the 150
made on the house I built, when enough has been paid
[top Margin]
After sale
of Burton farm
He will not consent
to build now
He can test the advice on
the house he built.

to secure it from reverting. Sixty dollars has been
paid upon it and I think it is a perminate sale
but of course it may come ^back^ notwithstanding
I should like to use the money & if father is w[ illing ]
Reason: hole
I will give him my note for the amt agreeing
to repay the sum if the house reverts within two
years.
Your brother
Will
I think I shall be able to sell your house
for $1300 or $1350 but am not sure yet.
