"Hon. John Beardsley represented Cayuga County in NY state assembly in 1832 and '33 and was also a member of the NY state senate representing the 7th District from 1836-'39. In 1843, he became agent of the State prison at Auburn." John Beardsley married Alice B. Booth, and together they had 12 children (not all of whom survived to adulthood). Their boys William, Alonzo, and Nelson were very active and prominent within the Auburn sphere. John is mentioned in 18320418ExM_WHS1v1: "W. Beardsley presuming his father has money in Albany to pay $2.25 which a Draft from the Banks would cost, if however word Beards- ley has parted with his funds so as not to be able to pay it, please to write me immediately & the Draft from the Banks shall be sent you."
