He was part of an Anti-Masonic assembly in Orange County. His father was Jonathan Brooks (in Ancestry) and his mother was Hetty Lewis (see Ancestry). He married Eliza Denniston and then Hannah Denniston, with whom he had two children, Fletcher and Charles.
