Biography:
Henry Polhemus, son of Cornelius, came in from New Jersey, about 1813, and settled in the village, on the place now owned by the heirs of Mason Healy, near where he kept a tavern several years. He removed to Auburn about 1827, and engaged in distilling and afterwards in mercantile business. He was a member of the New York state assembly from Cayuga County, 1818-19, 1820-21. He was a director of the Auburn and Owasco Canal Company with William Henry Seward and Elijah Miller. Polhemus died in Auburn about 1871.
