Biography:
Born in Ames NY, Randall moved to Wisconsin in 1840 and served as governor there from 1857-1862. In 1862 he briefly served as minister to the Papal States, but he returned to the US soon thereafter. He was the Postmast General under President Andrew Johnson, but fell out of favor in politics due to his loyalty to Johnson after Johnson's impeachment. He settled in Elmira, NY and practiced law there. Mentioned in letter: 18611030SFB_FMS.
