John Evertson Phillips lived in Goshen NY. In 1825, he graduated from Williams College. He studied law under Henry G. Wilner (Henry Gabriel Wisner), was admitted to the bar in 1828 and practiced law with Wilner until his death in 1848. Mentioned in 18391209SSS_WHS: "With John E Phillips Esq you are well acquainted. As Locos leave the Stage if an appointment worthy his notice should offer it would gratify me very much if he could receive an appointment. He and an immense family connection are substantial Whigs."
