Biography:
Associated with the Colt brothers. Married Samuel Caldwell Colt in 1838 and got pregnant with his child. Married Samuel's brother, John Caldwell Colt in 1842, the morning before he was sentenced to be hanged. By marrying John, Henshaw's child was somewhat legitimized - Samuel had long ago cast Henshaw away, as she wasn't a suitable wife for his social and business aspirations, and divorce was not classy. However, after John's death, Samuel cared for his "nephew" and gave the child $2million in his will.
After the Colt trial, Caroline was never seen from again. It is hypothesized she changed her name to Julia Leicester and married Freidrich von Oppen back in Germany.
