My Dear Husband
I have received your kind letters by ship
with joyfull feelings...I anticipated your silence the first
part of your voyage but fondly cherished the hope that it would
prove benificial in the end I am very glad that your health
is improving cant think but you will come home late restor-
red after so long rest from your ardent labours in the Office
if so shall feel fully compensated for all my sickness
& privations in your absence—no doubt you have had many
Disagreeabl things to pass through since you left your
native land but I hope that same protecting hand
that has always garded us will still garde & protect
us the short remainder of our lives—
My Health is improving slowly I feel comfortable
if carefull take cold as easy as a babe I have very
little Strength My Head has gutterd four times &
Discharged at the place where I took out that small
bone you see before you left home it has left my
Head very Dissy have to walk very carefully up &
Down Stairs for fear of falling but think I am
improving a little every Day I have revisited
your portrait was so struck with the likeness
that I hollerd rite out I thought it must speak to me
I have not set for mine yet thought I would

till I had a little more healthy countenance shall then
attend to it. Jennings family all well very kind attentive
to all my wants & wishes Washingtons all well the babe
grows finely Polydore wel but not doing well
no particular news -Florida remain very much the same
Goshen about the same Francis Tuthill married to
George Grier Mr. Tifts dismissed from his congregation
on account of ill Health—The Cholera is making
rapid progress through the western states I learned
Kentucke Ohio Illanois whole families are swept
off in 2 Days Jennings had letters from Israel &
Mr Brown saying their families have escapd yet—
Friday Morning 5 O Clock have risen early to finnish
this letter before the ship sails at ten O Clock
Although it is Middle of August My Dearest you
cannot think how weak & feeble I am it tries
every nerve in my head & neck yet I feel gratefull
to the Father of Mercys that I am as well as I am
—Next Monday I set out for Auburn James Jackson
& —Augustus will accompany me -I have never
before been able to undertake the journey I feel
so anxious dont know how to wait the time
Jennings had a letter Frances saying they are
all well

My dear I hope if we both live to meet again on Earth
we shall begin the world anew begin it in the
fear of the Lord sure no People ever had more
cause to adore & praise the Father of all mercies
than we have I feel that I could bow the rest
of my days at the footstool of Sovereign Mercy
for so many distinguish blessings that you &
Henry should plough the mysterious Ocean & be preserved
from the fate of thousands that have to submit
to a watery grave Demands more gratitud than
than I can express—O how many Ardent prayers
have been adressed to the Majesty on High in your
behalf...May that kind & indulgent Providence
that never slumbers nor sleeps continue the
same watchfull care even as that we have
always experianced unto the O Lord do I
send my prayer—in the sinceryty of my
heart I write this
