Biography:
"Wife of NY Governor Enos T. Throop, nee Evelina Freckenburgh (a.k.a. Vredenburgh). Mrs. Throop, who died a month before her 37th birthday, was one of four daughters born to William Vredenburgh of nearby Skaneateles, one of the most prominent men in the area. She married Enos Thompson Throop on July 19, 1814, and the couple subsequently had two children, William and Evelina, neither of whom survived infancy. The aunt of Victorian era novelist Eliza Townsend Porter Beach, who was the daughter of her sister Elizabeth, Mrs. Throop was also the namesake of her husband's grand-niece, Evelina Throop Martin Alexander, whose frontier diaries as a "cavalry wife" achieved recognition when posthumously published in the late 20th Century. Governor Throop, who never remarried, died at the age of 90 in 1874."
